Flexion Makes Agreements With Major Companies

Flexion Therapeutics today announced agreements with four major pharmaceutical partners, acquiring the rights to four clinical-stage compounds, and gaining investment from the world’s biggest pharmaceutical company.The agreements with AstraZeneca, Merck Serono (a division of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany) and one other partner establish for Flexion a mature pipeline of clinically enabled drug candidates focused on inflammatory diseases.

Synosia Therapeutics today announced interim positive data from a Phase IIa clinical study of an adenosine 2a (A2a) receptor antagonist (SYN115) in Parkinson’s disease. The Phase IIa trial was a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over study in 24 Parkinson’s patients using doses up to 120mg/day for one week.
